Why so private?

I have made the switch to a private blog.  There were several reasons for the change.  I have been blogging for about 2 years now.  In the beginning, I really think that only my mom and sister were reading.  I don't have any of my family living in Tuscaloosa (other than family I married into) so the blog was a way for my family to see pictures from our daily lives.  Well, the blog started to become more popular.  We had about 100 readers on a day where I put up a new post.  I know that is not a lot to many bloggers:) At first, I was flattered.  I mean, we are not very interesting people.  Then, it started to make me a little nervous.  For example, I have a loyal reader from Alaska....logs on several times a day.  I don't know anybody from Alaska.  I don't like that any random stranger can have such an intimate glimpse into our lives.  Also, many of my students commented that they were reading my blog.  Now, you all know how much I love my students.  However, some of the things that I write about (breastfeeding comes to mind) is really not appropriate for them to be reading about their teacher.  Last night I was in bed and an overwhelming feeling came over me that I needed to make the blog private.  I told my mom that I knew it was the Lord speaking to me.  I actually got out of bed and changed it immediately.  I love that we have so many readers, but the goal of the blog remains to create a scrapbook for my boys.  I appreciate those of you who are still reading, and I hope that the logging in and using a password is not too much of a pain.

If this isn't helpful, then I don't know what is!

I have posted before about how much Andrew likes to stack and group things together.  He would really rather do this instead of playing with toys.  He loves to get all of the shoes or socks from the house and put them in one place.  Last week, he discovered the cabinet where I keep all of our pitchers and sweet tea maker.  He takes everything out of this cabinet and groups them together in different places in our house.

Here are the contents of the cabinet in front of our recliner.

Here they are in front of the refrigerator.
Even though his stacks/groups make huge messes around our house, he does do his part to keep the house clean.  He saw me sweeping the other day, and he had to try.  Now, he has learned where we keep the broom and drags it out frequently to "sweep" the house.

Happy 34th Birthday, Joey!

Joey celebrated his 34th birthday yesterday.  Andrew worked very hard decorating a card for his dada.  When Joey got home from work, we had presents waiting on him.  He got a lot of new clothes.
He also got moosehead eggnog glasses like the ones that Cousin Eddie used in Christmas Vacation.
This was Andrew's card.  I let him pick it out.  Once I realized that it said "step-dad,"  I tried to make him get another one.  He was not having it and insisted that this was his card!
 Exhausted from opening presents:
 Birthday love from Andrew:
 Birthday love from Joey:
I planned a surprise dinner with our friends that night.  We went to Firebird's in Birmingham which is Joey's favorite restaurant.  They really do have the best steaks that I have ever had.

Happy Birthday, Joey!  We all love you!

Full of Kisses

Andrew has been full of kisses lately.  He kisses all of us, his dolls, and even the pictures in his books.  I love watching him kiss his brother.  It is hard to see, but I promise that Joey is under there!

5 months...3 weeks late!

I am so behind with Joey's monthly post.  Here are some facts about our five (almost 6) month old.
  • He wears 9 month sized clothes and size 3 diapers.
  • We tried breastmilk again this month, and it was once again a disaster.
  • He is not yet able to sit up.  He does the tripod sit where he balances himself with his hands until he tumbles.
  • He has still never slept through the night.  Actually, we are not even close:(
  • He has not had any food yet.  We are waiting until he is 6 months old.
  • He is able to get up on he knees and hands in the crawling position, but he can't go anywhere once he gets in this position.
  • He is a complete "mama's boy."
  • He eats about 6 ounces ever 3 hours.
Look who wants in on the monthly picture!  I love how Joey is looking at Andrew.

Look what I can do!

Joey can get up on his hands and knees all by himself! Please excuse my messy den:)

Jumperoo

Joey jumped for the first time in his jumperoo today. Along with jumping, he also did some swaying thanks to his brother's pushes.

Happy Easter!

Easter was really fun this year since Andrew was old enough to participate. We also enjoyed spending Joey's first Easter with him. Andrew's class had a party at school. I thought the cupcakes above were really cute. They also had an egg hunt.He was really excited that I let him eat some of his Easter treats on the way home from school. On Saturday, our church sponsored a huge Easter celebration called Easterfest. There were activities for all ages. Andrew enjoyed the duck pond until he was told that he could not take a bath in it. I was not sure what this game was, but my boys played it.Andrew felt like the minister was waiting too long to say, "go." He enjoyed hunting the 14,000 eggs all by himself for a few seconds.Andrew also got his face painted for the first time ever. In honor of his beloved Clifford, he got a red paw print.Hi from Easterfest!Andrew danced to the praise music. He spotted some woof woofs, pitched a fit when we wouldn't let him touch them, and we all went home. The Easter Bunny visited our house on Sunday morning.Happy First Easter to our sweet little buddy!I like this picture because it shows the boys' outfits. The belt was my favorite part.Andrew played with one of his new games while Joey got a bottle before church. Here are my attempts to get a picture of both of my boys smiling together-FAIL!Distracted by woof woof on tv:I got Joey to smile!
