Baby Shower

We had another baby shower for Andrew this weekend in Tuscaloosa. 5 of my very best friends hosted the shower. From left to right: Amy Crawford, Randi Hall, Christin Brown, Alise Cartledge, and Amy Ridgeway. Thank you all for the wonderful shower! My sweet nephew, John Marshall weathered the terrible Tuscaloosa storm that day (notice the wet shirt) to come celebrate his cousin Andrew.
We got some wonderful presents such as this video monitor from my parents!
I don't even know what to say about this picture! Ha ha! Andy likes to compare his belly to mine:) I think that I still have him beat!

2 years

Joey and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on June 14th. It some ways, it feels like we were just married yesterday. In other ways, it is strange to think about life before Joey. Sadly, there are so many unhappily married people in the world that are quick to say things like, "Enjoy it while it lasts, it won't be so fun in a few years." or "You can't really be that happy." Truth be told, I LOVE being Emily Glasgow! Marriage is wonderful even when no one is around or watching. I thank God that Joey wanted to be my husband. He is brilliant, hard working, compassionate, and gorgeous! We have been through so much together in our two years of marriage. I often think about the night that we met at the student center of First Wesleyan Church. It was on this night that I thought--he may have the most beautiful eyes that I have ever seen. Little did I know that I would look into those eyes as he recited wedding vows to me, or after we heard our son's heartbeat on the ultrasound monitor, or on the days when he tells me how pretty I am even though I have packed on close to 20 pounds lately! He is my true love, and I look forward to many more years together.

Beach Weekend

Each year, I go to the beach with some of my sorority sisters. Even though many of us live in different cities, we have remained close throughout the years and always look forward to this weekend. While I was at the beach, Joey went rafting with some friends. We are enjoying packing each weekend full of time with friends and family. After the beginning of July, we are going to stop leaving Tuscaloosa in case Andrew decides to come early! I took the camera to the beach with me, so I don't have any pictures from Joey's rafting trip. I hope that you enjoy the pictures! We stayed in this condo in Orange Beach. This year, Baby Andrew got to spend some quality time with his friend, Baby Jack! Jack is about 2 weeks older than Andrew, and we are certain that these two will be big buddies!
Here is a picture of one of my best friends, Amy. We lived together during one year of college and also during our first years of teaching.

Here are some group pictures from the weekend.

On our last night, our friends surprised Christin and me with a "book shower" for our boys. Since we are both teachers, we thought that this was a fabulous idea! Jack and Andrew got a lot of great books. Here we are posing with a devotional book for little boys.
Even more great books...

Memorial Day Weekend...and a little scare

On Thursday night, Joey and I decided that we wanted to take a small vacation during the Memorial Day weekend. We both realize that our days of taking last minute trips are numbered, and we want to spend as much quality time together as possible before Andrew gets here. So, we decided that we would go to Atlanta for the weekend. Before Joey got home from work on Friday, Andrew's nursery chair was delivered. Thanks, Grandmommy and Granddaddy for the chair! We actually went to Wetumpka on Friday night to eat dinner and spend time with my parents. We got up early Saturday morning, went to look at ski boats (Joey has a really bad itch for one) and then headed to Atlanta. We went to the Braves game Saturday night. On Sunday morning, we went to a delicious restaurant called the Flying Biscuit. My brother introduced us to it, and we love it. If you ever go, you have to order their grits!
Joey's favorite dish is fried brie topped with fruit. I am not really a fan of it, but he ate every bit!

After breakfast, we went to the Atlanta aquarium.

Joey's favorite animals were the penguins...
and the otters were my favorite!

On Monday, we spent the day with friends at the river.

Everyone (except me:) tubed, skiied, wakeboarded, etc. Here is Joey showing off his skills!

It was nice to spend a relaxing day together.

Here are some of our sweet friends.

When we got back home from the river, I laid on the couch to do my "kick count." Twice a day, I check to make sure that Andrew is as active as he should be. Well, this was the first time that I was not able to feel anything. I got upset and Joey and I both decided that we should call the doctor. We called, and he said to come to the hospital immediately--his response did not exactly help to ease my mind. Of course, we went to the hospital and they hooked me up to a monitor. As the nurse was hooking me up, Andrew started kicking like crazy! Even though he was kicking, the doctor monitored Andrew and me for an hour and noted all of his movements, changes in heart rate, and had a machine on me to monitor any contractions--which I did not have. It was a long night, but Joey and I both left feeling relieved and glad that we had everything checked out. This morning, I had my 29 week check up. Everything was normal, and I will go back in a couple of weeks.
