3rd Trimester

Today begins my third trimester with Jacob/Caroline. If you had told me on this day last year (when I was still in the hospital from having Andrew) that I would be starting my third trimester today, I would have laughed! It is really cool how far our family has come in one year.

In this picture, I am almost 28 weeks and Susan is about 35 weeks. Baby Amelia will be here soon. This picture was also taken on my parents' 35th wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary!
Jacob/Caroline continues to do well. I failed my one hour glucose test (same with Andrew) but passed the three hour test. I have said it before, but this baby is SO much more active than Andrew. I used to do nightly "kick counts" with Andrew to make sure that he was moving enough. I have not done any kick counts with this baby because there is no need. He/she rarely stops moving. I still love being pregnant. My ankles do swell and hurt after standing up all day to teach. During Andrew's third trimester, I was on summer vacation, so it is a new experience for me to work during these weeks. I have no idea how much weight I have gained. I have not weighed myself since I became pregnant. My nurse knows not to tell me at appointments either. I do not want to know. I think it may be a very scary number:)

Joey and I have talked about inducing with this baby. Our reasons being:
1. If we go into labor in the middle of the night again, we have to have a plan for Andrew. We have sweet friends who are willing to come over and keep him, but we hate to do that to anyone. We don't want family keeping him because we want them at the hospital.
2. We know that I labor quickly and my parents almost missed the birth of Andrew.
3. Because I labor quickly, we need to leave for the hospital as soon as I have contractions so waiting on childcare for Andrew could be a problem.
4. I did not like the doctor who delivered Andrew. I did not get my regular doctor because I went in the middle of the night. An induction would guarentee that I get my doctor.

With all of that being said, we are NOT going to induce. If you reread all of the above reasons, there is not a single one that states that the decision is being made because it is what is best for Jacob/Caroline. We have decided to trust in the Lord's timing and let this little one come when it is ready. We will just have to find ways to handle everything else. The risks associated with inductions are not worth it to us.

Teeth

Andrew has EIGHT teeth now. They make him look like a little boy instead of a baby. I was pretty sad when they started coming in because I felt like he was growing up way too fast, but they are pretty cute. On a totally unrelated note, I am a slacker mom who never posted his 11 month picture. Yes, I realize that he will be 1 in three days.

Have a great weekend!

Andrew's Open House

We had open house at Andrew's school on Sunday. He will be staying in the infant room until later this year. They do not promote them until they are stable walkers. We love everything about this classroom, so we are happy that he will get a few more months in here. Here is our little buddy excited about open house. Bulletin Board as you walk in the school:

Here is Andrew's door. His name is on the blue zebra at the top.

Here is the bulletin board in his classroom. He is the blue zebra again.

This is one of his cubbies.

We LOVE his teachers. All three of them are wonderful to him. Between them, they have 11 children, so they are experts. Here is Mrs. Kellie. I taught her daughter in kindergarten (now a 5th grader), so we have been friends for a long time!

Here is Mrs. Jennifer. I also taught her (now 5th grade) son in kindergarten as well as 3rd grade. I have her daughter this year in my third grade class. We love her!

This is Dana. Andrew adores her, and she is always so patient and kind.

We look forward to another fantastic year at school. I love going to work each day and not having to worry about my little buddy!

Andrew eats sushi...

Or maybe it was an organic apple bar, but he did use chopsticks!

Beach Trip

We went on our first family beach trip last week. We spent 6 nights in Seachase Condominiums, and it was wonderful. We are not sure why, but Andrew becomes a terrible sleeper whenever we are away from home. That part was not fun at all, but we did have a really good time.

Like his mama, Andrew is a "people watcher." He enjoyed sitting out on the balcony eating his meals and watching all of the action on the beach.
This was his first day on the beach. He did not like sand touching his hands. He did like banging his sand toys together to make noise. When we tried to show him how to play in the sand, he was not impressed. If he even had one grain of sand on his hand, he would show it to us. I was thankful for the bottled water in our cooler so that I could wash off his hands.

When we took him to the ocean for the first time, he cried. I was disappointed because I really wanted him to like it. We tried again the next day, and he did much better. I wouldn't say that he loved the ocean, but he tolerated it. I can't remember the exact day, but Joey got stung by a jellyfish early in the week. After that, Andrew did not go back in the ocean. I also watched a special on the Today Show early in the week on shark attacks, so that made me nervous for the rest of the week. Ha!

Sitting under our tent on the beach:

My boys dressed as twins before dinner at the Wharf one night. Notice Andrew's hand in this picture. He continues to love to grab ears.

Snuggling with Dada (notice the ear) in the condo:

On a rainy day, we went shopping at the Outlets. He helped his dad try on some glasses.

I put a hat on him, but...

he thought that it would look better on me!

Joey got a map for the outlets, but Andrew really wanted to be the one to hold it. He was our little tour guide.

My boys read the menu together at dinner one night.

Another day on the beach:

Andrew seemed to like being in the pool more than anything, and the water felt great!

Between all of the swimming and his horrible sleeping at night, he spent most of the week as a very tired little man. We had a lot of snuggle time.

Dinner at my favorite place--Cobalt:

Andrew got a little too comfortable and put his feet on the table.
