Teeth
Andrew has EIGHT teeth now. They make him look like a little boy instead of a baby. I was pretty sad when they started coming in because I felt like he was growing up way too fast, but they are pretty cute.
On a totally unrelated note, I am a slacker mom who never posted his 11 month picture. Yes, I realize that he will be 1 in three days.

Andrew's Open House
We had open house at Andrew's school on Sunday. He will be staying in the infant room until later this year. They do not promote them until they are stable walkers. We love everything about this classroom, so we are happy that he will get a few more months in here. Here is our little buddy excited about open house.

We LOVE his teachers. All three of them are wonderful to him. Between them, they have 11 children, so they are experts. Here is Mrs. Kellie. I taught her daughter in kindergarten (now a 5th grader), so we have been friends for a long time!
Here is Mrs. Jennifer. I also taught her (now 5th grade) son in kindergarten as well as 3rd grade. I have her daughter this year in my third grade class. We love her!
This is Dana. Andrew adores her, and she is always so patient and kind.
We look forward to another fantastic year at school. I love going to work each day and not having to worry about my little buddy!

Beach Trip
We went on our first family beach trip last week. We spent 6 nights in Seachase Condominiums, and it was wonderful. We are not sure why, but Andrew becomes a terrible sleeper whenever we are away from home. That part was not fun at all, but we did have a really good time.
Like his mama, Andrew is a "people watcher." He enjoyed sitting out on the balcony eating his meals and watching all of the action on the beach.
This was his first day on the beach. He did not like sand touching his hands. He did like banging his sand toys together to make noise. When we tried to show him how to play in the sand, he was not impressed. If he even had one grain of sand on his hand, he would show it to us. I was thankful for the bottled water in our cooler so that I could wash off his hands.
When we took him to the ocean for the first time, he cried. I was disappointed because I really wanted him to like it. We tried again the next day, and he did much better. I wouldn't say that he loved the ocean, but he tolerated it. I can't remember the exact day, but Joey got stung by a jellyfish early in the week. After that, Andrew did not go back in the ocean. I also watched a special on the Today Show early in the week on shark attacks, so that made me nervous for the rest of the week. Ha!

On a rainy day, we went shopping at the Outlets. He helped his dad try on some glasses.

he thought that it would look better on me!
Joey got a map for the outlets, but Andrew really wanted to be the one to hold it. He was our little tour guide.

Andrew seemed to like being in the pool more than anything, and the water felt great!
Between all of the swimming and his horrible sleeping at night, he spent most of the week as a very tired little man. We had a lot of snuggle time.

Children's Hospital Visit
We went to Children's Hospital earlier this month to get a second opionion on Andrew's breathing troubles. Our pediatrician told us that he was showing the early signs of asthma and put him on a nightly inhaler. We took all of our old x-rays to Birmingham and let a specialist look at them as well as the inhalers.
When we checked in, Andrew got a hospital bracelet on his foot.
He then spent the rest of the day trying to get it off.
We waited FOREVER, but it was well worth it. Andrew entertained himself by taking the paper off of the bed and putting it on his head...over and over again!
Thankfully, Joey had a book to read.
Andrew got a really good report. The doctor agreed that he is showing the early signs of asthma but feels confident that it will clear up around the age of three. He took him off of the nightly inhaler, changed his inhaler, and told us that we only had to use it when he needed it. He has not needed it once since we have been home. I have never really dealt with asthma before except for students in my classroom, so we asked a lot of questions. At this age, there are three reasons why a baby would be showing these signs. I will spare the details, but Andrew fell into the best of the three categories, so we do not expect him to have asthma if we follow this plan correctly. Just to be on the safe side, we are going to continue to take him to Children's to have his breathing checked and to make sure that our treatment plan is correct. We do not go back again until October.
